The annual Schools Sports Hall Athletics Championships were once again hosted by DCBC this week with secondary schools from Chester le Street and Durham battling it out to qualify for next term’s County Durham Finals. The Chester le Street competition was first and the Year 7 and 8 athletes performed fantastically. The Year 8 boys and Year 8 girls teams both won their category as did the Year 7 boys, with the Year 7 girls finishing second. There were some outstanding performances with plenty of PB’s.
Next up was the Durham Schools competition – a highly competitive event with all 5 secondary schools involved. Despite being the smallest school there, the DCBC students performed admirably with some great performances in the field events. The Year 7 boys and girls plus the Year 8 girls all finished in 4th place and the Year 8 boys were 3rd. The students were a credit to both Colleges and we wish the winning teams all the best in the County Durham Finals.
