IEB Members:

Dr. Michael Joseph McDade

Chair of Governors

I live and work in Newcastle upon Tyne. I am Chair of the Board of Directors of a high performing Converter Academy, appointed by the RC Bishop of Hexham & Newcastle for a renewable period of four years. I have been a Governor there for fifteen years; the last four years as Chair during which I led the transition to Academy status and the refurbishment and rebuild of the school.
I was appointed a National Leader in Governance in 2013 and I have a particular interest in governance, recruitment and strategic planning that responds to changing student needs.
I recently joined the Governing Body of a challenging primary school in an area of high deprivation and I am enjoying working with the new Headteacher and Governors to ensure that all students are supported to achieve their maximum individual potential and to be rounded and aspirational learners.
I work as a Director of the Cenacle Ltd and with the National Careers Service. In addition to these I write for ‘The Key’ and sit on the Schools’ Admissions Panel for Newcastle City Council.
