Jo reggelt, Hodj vodj? (Good morning , how are you? as we like to say in Hungarian). On Wednesday and Thursday this week 12 students from across the Federation were selected to represent County Durham in the annual Anglo-Hungarian cultural exchange. The first day took place at Moor House Adventure Centre where teambuilding games helped the students mix and get to know their foreign counterparts. Despite the language barrier the English and Hungarian students had to work together to solve a host of tricky problems. After lunch gifts were exchanged and the Federation boys were taken aback by the generosity of their partners,
Thursday’s action took place at Consett Academy with competitions in Swimming, Netball, Tennis, Football and Indoor Athletics. The Federation students were competing in 5 aside, 9 aside and 11 aside football matches and found it tough going against slightly older opposition. They finished just behind the Hungarians and received medals for their efforts. The day finished off with pizzas and many new friendships have been made, perhaps they will meet up next year when the festival takes place in Europe.
